GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- North Dakota (UND) ended Minnesota Golden Gopher's season with a 4-1 victory on Sunday night at Ralph Engelstad Arena in the third game of their best-of three, first-round WCHA playoff series.

However, all the talk after the game was about one incident that happened early in the second period when North Dakota's forward Matt Frattin jumped to nail Minnesota's defenseman Kevin Wehrs to the end boards with a brutal and nasty looking hit. Frattin was given a five-minute major for charging and contact to the head. Wehrs had to be helped off the ice and did not return because of a head injury.

"That was a vicious hit, say what you want," Lucia said. "It's not the kind of hits we want to see in the game. My own personal feeling, it was more than a five."

Minnesota, which scored three power-play goals Saturday, managed only three shots during the five minutes they had a man advantage on Frattin's penalty.
